    Thanks for the input trebor28, I think we agree that it's a juvenile alright but I don't think it's a Skylark. The size / shape and colour of the legs & beak etc aren't matching up..

    I was looking along the lines of either a juv Wheatear / Redstart / Whinchat type bird but I think it's a juv Stonechat...

    Pic from Collins Bird Guide 2nd Edition..bottom left of photo (I hope I'm not breaching copyright by posting this)...
