Question About Grant Application!

    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone here would know how this works! I applied for a fee's only grant early last month and have only gotten a reply today stating I need to supply a P21 form. As this form may take about a week or so to process they told me in the grants office that my application may be delayed (like any department involved in these issues it's impossible to get a straight answer out of them!)

I'm going to DIT (I've registered and all saying I'm expecting my local VEC to pay my fee's) will they wait for the VEC to pay my fee's or do I have to have money to cover it myself in September/October?

    Cheers guys!

Hi Paula K, it can go 2 ways.

if you get your p21, and your accepted for the grant, they will give you a confirmation letter, and you can bring this to the registrar's office in DIT, and they will be happy to register you then. the vec office will then pay your fees directly to the college.

if the vec office dont process your application anytime soon, then DIT might not be willing to wait for the fees to be paid, in which case you will have to pay them yourself, but you will be refunded the cost of the fees once the grant is processed and payments begin.

depending on the VEC, they will treat the application as being submitted only when complete. So if you send most of it in in july, but dont submit your birthcert until november, they'#ll only treat the application as being received in november. It's to be fair to people who put the whole application together on day one (or so i have been told)

    Cheers for the replies guys!

The problem with the application was a declaration of my dads PAYE income. I thought his P45 would have been enough so I didn't think I had to worry. I had the grant application sent in three or four days after the applications where released, I don't understand why I'm only getting a reply now with a week left before they stop accepting applications!

I really hope this gets sorted as I don't have any money to pay for fee's :(
