    Hi,

I'm going into the Audit department in Deloitte in October. Was wondering are the people who are going into auditing will be doing the AITI course and does Deloitte approve of that?

It was very difficult to get a job in the tax department hence I applied for auditing. I like auditing and tax. I want to do the tax exams because I want the tax qualification and ACA.

you should ask asap if you can register for tax exams this year as registration closes 7th september for deloitte to get the forms in for incoming students (but AITI deadline is 2nd december). I wouldnt do tax exams without having done cap 1's and cap 2's as there are two more tax exam sittings and FAE's and one set of exams is enough for any year I reckon but some people get on ok doing two sets of exams. Depends on your situation. Lectures for part 2 tax start October 15th. Exam fees are pretty high so I'd say thats a reason Deloitte may say no. Worth it to aks though

Thanks for the information, should have mentioned I'm exempt from CAP 1 and 2 hence in my first year I'll be doing no exams and second year would be FAE's.

Your best bet is to ring the HR department and talk to them. They will advise you of the best thing to do.

I know people who have done this in Deloitte- It was allowed if you were exempt from CAP 1 and 2 but think they had to pay for it themselves.

I have another question if anyone can answer. I heard from people in kpmg that their trainees have to do an exam at the end of their training in auditing, is it same in Deloitte?

Never heard of the exam, i left 3 weeks ago and didnt sit one

I worked in audit, you can do the tax exams, but you will have to pay for the exams and have to take unpaid study leave

Did you do your tax exams yourself in the first year?

No 2 friends of mine did them while working in audit.

Its fairly expensive to do them from audit, even after you pay for exams and books etc you will have to take substantial unpaid leave, so the costs mount up pretty quick.

Since i didnt work in tax and had no intention of working in tax i never bothered

I'll be fine with the costs. How much leave did your mates take for part two exams and were Deloitte ok with giving them a leave?
