Choosing a Course

I received two offers this morning from the CAO, one for Entertainment Systems and the other for Multimedia Applications Development. I'm not too sure which one I should go for as both have advantages and disadvantages. I'm just wondering if anyone has opinions on the courses? On a side note, when doing the Leaving Cert I was planning on doing Multimedia Applications Development as I didn't expect to get the required B3 in ordinary level maths for Entertainment Systems but I put it on my CAO anyway. Turns out I did, and that's why I've been offered them both. Being honest, the only thing making me think about doing Multimedia over Entertainment is the large amount of design it seems to offer. I'm just not sure so any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

I'll be honest, having just finished second year in Multimedia, the design is gone already. More of an emphasis on databases and programming.

Whats to say it wont come back in third or fourth year? Or is it two years design and two years programming type thing?

Most likely has changed. My year was the least year to study it at level 7. It was changed to level 8 at the beginning of last year so anyone just heading into second or first eyar now will be studying it as a level 8.

Hard to say what year 3 will be like now, semester 5 is work experience and semester 6 could be affected by lecturers available.

For my two years so far, Year One was majority design. Semester 3 was mainly maths/programming and Semester 4 was a half and half, but leaning towards database/programming.

All that being said, anyone going in now will be level 8. I'm level 7.

What do you mean it's now Level 8?

When I went into first year, Multimedia Applications Development was a Level 7 course that was 3 years long.

Since last September its a Level 8 course that is 4 years long.

    It's a Level 7 for me though.

    Thats strange.

They still have the level 8 listed as the one-year add-on.

I was living with someone who went into first year last year and they were all told it was a Level 8 course going forward, but then website still lists it as a Level 7, with a Level 8 one year add-on.

I was just assuming it was three years and then the add-on. Doesn't matter, thinking of choosing Entertainment Systems anyway if there isn't much design in Multimedia. Thanks for your help.

dont take any of them. take a year out (to think about your mistake) and apply again with software systems development as your only choice. anything else is just gay

Seriously, you're using the word gay to make something seem negative. Wow, you're totally cool.
