First semester is Film, Critical Theory (and a seminar), and Modernism. Second semester is Irish Studies, World Literature, and Post-War to Postmodernism (and another seminar). It is a really interesting course! I loved all the modules, apart from Film :p it's grand, just a wee bit boring. The films you study are pretty good though (On The Waterfront, Casablanca, Silence of the Lambs are some of them).

The difference between 3rd year and the other years is that there is a lot more emphasis on the theory as opposed to the actual texts. That's basically the Critical Theory module (taught by the awesome Colin Graham :D); the material is a little abstract, but its fine once you get into it :) World Lit and Postmodernism is also heavy enough on the theory.

Do you want to know anything else? :)

Are film and lectures combined or are films shown at seperate times?

Different times :) Last year they were shown on Friday afternoons. The films are all in the library or online anyway so if the day they're shown on doesn't suit it's easy enough to get a hold of them.

generally (from when I attended) they told you in advance that the films would be one evening during the week at 6 when lectures have finished. You could always watch them at home yourself before the class/tutorial though
