I'm looking for a balance bike for my daughter, something along the lines of a LikeAbike Jumper or an Islabike Rothan would seem to be ideal. Would anyone happen to have anything for sale in good condition?

I got a shock when I saw how expensive the bikes you linked are. Smyths do this balance bike for 35 euros.

..... and they do mountain bikes for €100 ...... I wouldn't be buying one of those either!

One issue that I immediately notice with that bike is that the top tube is very high in comparison to some/many other balance bikes. That'll make it more difficult for a small child to climb onto the bike without falling over and bailing out in the event of falling over while on the move will be trickier too. That may be why the site states it is suitable from the age of 3yrs and upwards, but even for that age group it wouldn't appeal to me.

Also, the site gives no information on the weight of the bike. It might be light as a feather, or it might be a concrete slab on wheels, the lack of information makes me suspect the latter.

The two that I linked to in my first post are well designed and relatively light bikes. There certainly are similar bikes out there for less money and I am interested if anyone has one to sell, but my priority is to find a bike that'll suit my daughter's needs well and I am willing to spend a little more for something that'll be fun for her to use rather than a chore for her to use.

This one is a little cheaper than the one you linked to and most importantly - it's pink!

She tried out a Stryder in a local shop a few months back but it was quite heavy and it toppled over while she was trying to manoeuvre it. We didn't think a Stryder would be something to consider for a while yet after that but the one you link to claims to be very light (3kg) so it might be worth a look. Thanks.

As for the colour, I reckon any colour will do so long as it is fast. I'm not sure where pink ranks in the speed scale...

    Howdy,

I'm on the look out for one of these as well for my young lad (2 and a half). The Smyths one is not too bad, we checked it out in the store last weekend. Its pretty light and quite small. It looked decent for the price and I would have gotten it only my son was off trying to climb into the electric ferrari that they have :o . I couldn't quite talk him down from that and onto the bike!

Aside from that I've nearly pulled the trigger on one of these:

A friend of mine has these for his lads and they are a little heavy but solid. His sons are on proper bikes now and after the push bike they got up and cycling in a couple of goes without any stabilisers.

    OB.
