    Hi all.
I have been playing with a team here in Dublin for a few years, but recently had a bit of a falling out with the coach.

Im afraid that the coach might not play me on any of the teams out of spite...

My question is at what stage am I locked into the team for the year? Is it after I pay the subs for the year, when I play my first league game, etc?

I dont want to leave now as all the lads in the team are sound and I dont wanna leave on a hunch, would rather know for sure before letting my teammates down...

I think it's to do with if you are registered with a club. Once you are you can't change team this season. As this season hasn't started yet you could get away with changing clubs.

I'm fully sure about it though. You're best bet is to contact the IRFU or the Leinster/Munster/Connacht/Ulster branch.

Could you not just sort things out with your coach? Probably best course action before upping sticks and switching to another team.

You can definitely change club with little difficulty. There have been no official matches so you're not tied. In fact, you can play Leinster Senior Cup and remain untied, it's when you get into the proper season that you become tied. I've re registered a few players in my club.

Just go join a new club and they'll fix your registration whenever the first fixtures come up.

yeah I changed clubs last year. you can change before a certain date(think it was sep 1st) without your current clubs permission, then after you can leave with your clubs permission till another date(not sure when)

A transfer should not be a major problem afaik.

    For example:

Would you please PM me. While I would always urge a player to try and sort out the personal problems with the coach (as it can in fact improve the relationship if done in the right way), it is a game that you enjoy and want to play. Try and have a chat with the coach, if it is something that does, or can't be resolved I would be very interested in talking to you. I am an AIL coach with a Dublin Senior Team, and we are always looking for players to come down and even test out our training for a night or two to get a sense of what the club is about, the coaching structure, players, commute, vibe. If you like it great, if not somewhere else might in fact suit. However, you have got to play while you can, because the day will inevitably come when you would give anything to be able to play the game, and you will regret giving up, like so many players in this country seem to do way too soon. Sometimes, life is tough, work is ****e, you haven't a bean etc, and you have to make hard decisions, I feel a lot of us make the easy choice, including myself. So..to conclude, have another think, put it into context, taking all things into account, and have a long think about it. If you still want to leave, I would be very interested.

    Best of luck with it

    Thanks for all the feedback.

Its a bit of a catch 22 situation as I wont know until the first games whether he's gonna screw with me, but by then it will be too late. Still trying to figure out what to do.

@ailrugby: I play Junior level rugby, so would not be up to that standard, but thanks for the offer :)
