Is there anything to be said about playing Trimble at 12? I think his direct running, strength and newly found step could be exactly what we're missing in midfield. I know Darce is only back from injury but he wasn't exactly firing on all cylinders in the 6N either and god knows Wallace is not the answer.

Would choke the rest of the backline IMO. He is a runner, not a playmaker.

Also, would move him out of a position to counter attack on opposition kicks which i think is the strongest asset he brings to the game.

Hasn't got the hands to play 12. He has worked hard on his game but he will never have the game to play anywhere but wing.

he's a decent 12, and could be used there in some of the smaller games, but his handling and distribution skills are not his strong point.

He could do the Kevin Maggs crash ball style game quite well if we played with a quick scrum half and a ball-securing back row though.

Didn't he start out as a centre and was pretty average. Playing really well, I don't see how they can drop him.

I agree, o'driscoll and co wouldn't see as much of the ball if trimble ran all the time

Play him on the wing and by all means bring him into 12 off some lineouts/scrums for crash ball.
The opposition will expect the crash ball when he steps into 12 and then throw the pass behind him and unleash kearney + bowe outside. Keep them guessing.

When he first broke into the Irish team he played 12 at first, but obviously didn't like him there as they haven't moved him back in since. Like said, he's not a playmaker or creative enough for 12 really.
