    Hi guys,

I used to play about with systems years ago but been stuck with UPC for a long time. but moving to a place i can install a motorised system and looking for advice.

I have went and purchased an openbox S9 and i am looking for advice on a motorised set up and what satellites i could get. i think ill go for either a 90 or 100CM dish. will this make much of a difference on what satellites i can pick up? ( I am in Cork) also how much should a motorised system cost to but and roughly how much would an install cost as i may chicken out of the install myself!:)

Sorry lots of Q's but any help appreciated!

why did you opt for the openbox S9? and where did you get it from?

get a triax 1.1m dish, an alsat dark superior motor, and very important, get the black ultra inverto lnb, it rocks and use the best sat cable.

tell me more about the openbox and i can look it up. and if unsure of any bits i have mentioned post back.

cost say dish 80 euro, motor is 60, lnb about 40, then long pole 26 euro, 2 t&k brackets. 20metres cable, 3 f connectors. say about 300 euro but do it youyrself as it is easy. i have done quite a few and know. i'm in clare.
loads of guides, clear view of sky is a must.

    1. pole 100% straight, use 8west as true south, then have motor, dish dead level/straight, drive dish to 8west, get a signal, tighten dish, USALS takes care of rest

Hi Thanks for the info might judt give it a try. Is there a big advantage on the amount of satellites u can pick up if i opted for an 80 or 90cm dish?

I went for the s9 as it is a low price hd box. I was using a dm500s previous to the s9. Picture quality is fantastic never had a bit of bother with it. Got it from a dealer in the uk happy to pass on his info if you like. I think there is an s10 model out now but I would deffo go for one of these as the price and the pic quality are spot on.

Let me know if you want anymore info on the s9

When it comes to sats bigger is best for the dish. I said 1.1m as I know it works. I get 45east to 30west BUT I use a spiderbox. I used an 85CM nokia for a while here in clare and got quite a few but it depends what you want. films, footie, there is an awful lot on from 28east to 30west and 90cm may do but 16e is tricky, hence bigger dish.

I searched for the S9 and found a few sites. 95 quid was lowest in uk but postage extra. I am a hobbyist but gradually losing interest. I have a few boxes.

By the way you can get a 1m gilbertini dish in aluminium, its very light but I got all my gear in UK/germany so dont know anywhere in ireland.

also do a separate posting about dish size as I helped another guy in cork recently so somoen may have a 90cm working great.
