    Hi,
I need to get a good clean and polish done, I paid €75 this time last year to have this done by my dentist, is this standard price? I have heard of people having it done for €50.
Also I have braces top and bottom but are nearly finished treatment now so no overlapping or anything maybe cleaning the teeth with train tracks costs more?

My dentist is in Belfast and he charges £25, have saved a fortune by going up there.

Hey Ennis81, yes around 75 euro seems right, a friend of mine had it done recently and thats the price he paid, that was in Galway though, maybe different other places, i have always heard up the north is very competitive

if you go to a new "cheaper" dentist you will need an examination and possibly X-rays before the cleaning. The cleaning price may be 40 euro but in the end you will pay 40 for the exam and 20 for each X-ray etc. For a dentist cleaning the teeth is only one part of your checkup. There is a tendency for some dentists to have an examination fee and a separate cleaning fee and some have a all in one fee, they are not driectly comparable. 25 sterling for a cleaning and 25 for an examination is 60 euro so no saving there, in fact with travel and time off your at a dead loss.

Best stick with the same dentist that knows your teeth. €75 is not unreasonable for an examination and scale and polish. Its a bit like asking is 25 euro a lot for a main course in a restaurant....it depends on the quality and other factors.

If the dentist is good, puts you at ease, spends time with you, is careful to examine all your teeth and take xrays where necessary, has a nice surgery which is clean and nice staff then its worth that little bit more.
