There are loads of daytrips that you can do out there like, trips to the Bedouin tribes in the desert and do desert safari's st catherines monastery is a popular one.

But theres loads else, have a look here .

The main town is nama bay,it's a strip with loads of Egyptian tent like cafe's and bars and night life galore.
Theres a hardrock cafe in the centre of the strip which morphs into the areas most popular night club at night.
Local beers are tasty especially Sakara! Enjoy :)

You can check this website if you want to see more than the resort city of Sharm el Sheikh:

St. Catherine is very recommended! Have a look at this info-site:

St Catherines is great if you are into that kind of culture.
Most people do it as a trip that starts at midnight, you get to do the sunrise on the mountain and then go to the monastry.
It's very exhausting! but one of these things well worth doing!

It mightn't interest a diver enthusiast or someone who wants to relax for the week though. You will lose a nights sleep.

A car will get you to the monastary in a few hours if you want to do that on it's own.
