Im guessing oldest early 70's it doesnt appear to be a jmi model. Wouldn't have a clue otherwise but there is bucket loads of info on net. Different chanels, th, rectifier valve, loads of stuff if you go to right places you should date it in 10 minutes

The Cabinet construction looks like chip board and the pedal would but it in the mid 70,s.

I spent about 4 months trying to date mine... they're really tough... even the "pros" often just guess... there's bit and bobs which they can date, but that really only means those bits are that old (bits of mine come from 70, other bits from 72... I call it a '72...)

Good luck ever REALLY knowing. ;)

Oh, that being said, this may hellp:

    http://charliehall.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=2773

In case anyone wants to have a go at mine:

    It says:

"A Vox Product" (seems to mean late 60s/Early 70s)
    No verb (so pre-78)
    "Made in England"
    Grey Panel
TB with the two white Trem inputs
3 15 Amp fuse on panel
    No voltage selector

In fact it's VERY similar to the one shown above, but... who really knows...

I'm happy enough with early 70's, great era for music. :-)

I need to change the valves, though. Is that difficult? Will modern variants work?

If I were you, looking at those pics, I'd have a pro do it!

But yeah, you can use new tubes, or NOS tubes...

Honestly, re: date, anything before 78, that's not solid state, is what people prefer... but it's a sliding scale; the older the better... though there's some of them that weren't vented properly and overheated all the time... so they sound great and break down endlessly ;) People even cut extra vents in them... and the pre-TB models were often converted to TB, which some people value more, other less, as they aren't stock...

Bottom line, the model we both seem to have sounds amazing! And is reliable!

    Woot!
