Just wondering Sky offered me sky+hd box for free
and 15 euro extra for HD channels for a year

    Is this worth it

Most of the HD channels or duplicate of SD channels

so I feel I am paying twice for the same channels

    any thoughts

Got the same promo card in the post there this week too.

Free SKY+HD box if we upgrade to the HD pack, at €15 a month, with a new contract for 12 months.

Unless you're really into sports or movies and have a big screen hdtv, I don't really think it's worth it. ;)

If you have a HD tv and feel you'll get the value out of the HD channels then go ahead.Sport looks amazing in HD.

They have to be duplicates of the SD channels in order to keep everybody happy.

Lots of threads on this topic already......lots.

can you give me a link i tried searching
    no results

I remember the time sky used charged for sky+ recording 15 euro to record
I waited till the charge was drop then I got my sky+

could this happened with HD channels

Alternatively if you don't have a HD tv or don't feel the need for HD and you can get them to waive the HD fee, the box is a huge improvement on Sky +

They are replacing them for free in the uk, as they cant handle the new software.

I rang them and told them our Thomson box is about to go and they wanted to charge 100 euro for an engineer call out, I told them no way and all she said was you could get one off ebay, well I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of sky now, I've been with them for over 10 years and this is how they treat loyal customers.

Call them up, tell them you're leaving. You should be passed to retentions and those folks will sort it for you :)

I did exactly that and they are sending someone out over the next few days to either fix the box or replace it free of charge. Thanks for that.

We got another card there this week.
If we upgrade to HD, we'll get new box + free installation and HD sub at half price for 6 months. (1 year contract too obviously)

Not bad I guess, for those who really want HD.

Would love if they dropped that €15 charge!!!

In answer, it is worth it for Sports - shows on Sky Atlantic look great too!!
Also movies if you have it!

Sky isn't cheap - but for those who like tech - HD, Sky Go app, Sky+ apps - they are streets ahead of UPC

Thats interesting - on my letter there was no mention of the 6 months half price.

Upgrade to sports and movies, get both for half price for 3 months, with 1 year contract

Can anyone avail of that offer or do you have to be contacted by Sky? I have a HD box but no HD sub. Was thinking of upgrading and rang Sky last week to check if they have any special offers or incentives and they just said that there were none running at the moment.

They tried to charge me 100 euros for a call out too. Then I found your post and rang them to cancel and they then said they would come out and fix it for free! :)

    100 hundred thank yous!! :D
