Have a Samsung Galaxy S and have UPC BB. The phone sees the network and each time i attempt to connect to the network i put in the Password as required but it fails to actually connect to the network.

the other half has same phone and on that one can connect to the network but it wont connect to the internet for some reason.

The network seems ok as the laptop connects no issues and no issues connecting to the internet.

    Any help appreciated?

    Hey OP,

What way is the wifi network encrypted? WEP/WPA?
And what version of android is on your phone?
I might have had a similar problem with my Samsung Galaxy S.

    WPA/WPA2 PSK

    Both running 2.2

yeah it sounds like the same problem I used to have :)

It's a problem that the galaxy s has when running 2.2
It seems to be linked to the type of encryption that you are using, and I think to the particular wi-fi router type as well (I could be wrong).

I could never get my phone to connect to my home wi-fi (WPA encrypted) but yet it worked normally on any other wi-fi network (I presume some of these must have been WPA encrypted, and not just WEP).

So one possible solution is to change your encryption to WEP, although your network won't be as secure as WPA.

What solved my problem in the end was upgrading the firmware from 2.2 to 2.3 (i.e. gingerbread). My phone is unrooted and I did it using the Kies software.

May try an upgrade to 2.3.

When upgrading the firmware via KIES do you need to back up contacts or anything like that?

Just to be safe, it's worthwhile backing up everything. Kies should give you the option to back-up everything before you begin the upgrade. Otherwise there is an option in one of the menus in Kies.
Once you don't disconnect the cable or start pressing anything on the phone, everything will be fine.
