can't get 3 broadband started

    Help,
Two months ago I signed up for an 18 month contract with 3 mobile broadband. Installed the software, blue light is on, but it won't connect. I get the warning that I have to make sure the settings are correct. In the control panel (internet) I get the message that 'this connection is not available because there is a problem with the modem or network adapter'. The modem works on my friends computer, so it is some setting I need to change. (It is not the firewall).
The 3 helpdesk is not very helpful. They don't seem to know more than is in the little booklet that came with the modem.
Does anybody know what I could try? I don't want to spend a few hundred euro for somebody to 'fix' my laptop (I might aswell buy a new one). Could windows Vista be causing the problem?

Was there another 3G (mobile broadband) software installed on the computer previously ? If so uninstal it/them and the current 3 installation . Then browse program files and delete any Huawei folders ( think the folder is usually called HUAWEI ) . Download/run Ccleaner (free version - Google Chrome is bundled with the installer , uncheck boxes during the instal if you dont want it ) . Reinstal your 3 modem .

No, there was no other 3 software on the computer before. I did uninstall and install the 3 software a few times. Would my BT broadband (that thankfully works) be confusing it?

I wouldnt have thought BT broadband would interfere with it . There was no other mobile broadband installed - meteor, O2 , etc ? After uninstalling did you delete the huawei folder ?

Rackstar suggested a fix here that might be worth a try

Have you got your 3 broadband installed in more than more computer or laptop? Sometimes it will only install onto a maximum of three laptops/PC's.
