Travel advice needed

    Hi all,

Needing to New Zealand for nearly 2 months soon. It's going to be my first time spend so much time abroad so I'm a little unsure how to prepare for it all. I mean how do you pack for that length of time? And what do you do with all the important stuff like passport, credit card, etc. All that kind of stuff. I'm staying in a mix of hotels, hostels, B&B's and campervans during this time.

    Would really appreciate any advice!

When are you going? What do you plan to do in NZ? - You'd get better quality responses from us Boardies if we know a bit more ...

Regarding accomodation, motels are good to stay in as well. Very common in NZ.

You wont need to take much clothes - motels have decent washing/drying machines. Best to take less and if you need more clothes, you can buy them at reasonable prices.

I'm heading there in the middle of next month for the world cup. We'll be travelling all around starting with Auckland. Heading to all of Irelands pool matchs so we will be in Auckland, Rotorua, Dunedin and Wellington. Wellington brings us to the start of October and after this we will then spend most of the travelling around the north island mostly in areas that are around Auckland.

So is it best to just take the bare minimum and then buy what ever else I need when over there?

What about taking care of the important documents? Particularly passport. Couple of people have suggested that I strap it to myself? Is this a good idea? I lost my passport a few months back and now I'm extra paranoid about it, the new one that is.

I always have a scanned image of my passport saved in my email account so in the case that something happens to my actual one, there's some proof of it's existence. Same thing for my travel insurance and my E111 card.

As to where to keep your passport, do you need to have it on you at all times? If not, would you consider leaving it in the motel and use another form of ID? It's common for places to have safes, and if not, you could just have a lock on your bag to keep your mind a ease. I have a pocket in my suitcase that I always put mine into and then lock so I don't get confused as to where I put it.
