Ok so my radio is ****e. Ver bad reception something none, I tried another radio which works perfectly.

So to replace the current one I think I need to either get a double din size radio or some sort of adapter that will allow me to put in in a single din radio.

Has anyone her replaced a radio of this type, I'm looking for suggestions on what approach is best.

To put in a din radio you'll need a facia adaptor (€30) and a harness adaptor (€20)
It's easy enough to do but an oem factory radio will have the clock, temp display and trip computer and doesn't risk being stolen. Aftermarket radios also look awful in newer cars.

Make sure the replacement radio is the same as yours as theres at least 3 different types that look the same. Easiest way is to check for a mute button. Some have them and some don't - they're not interchangeable

Thanks, You'd recommend getting a second hand OEM Toyota Corolla radio, that will be a straight swap just make sure it has no Mute Button. I also have to replace my back left hand speaker, might just try to find a decent second hand radio & speaker.
