Setting a Flash Programmer properly

Just got a new boiler with this flash programmer:

At the moment, there is a red light flashing in the upper section I've circled in red on the pic, presumably related to the advance function switch - if this is at 0 the boiler doesn't come on on a timed section, if it's at 1 the boiler does come on, but then doesn't switch off when a timed section has been passed - can someone tell me what way I should be setting or resetting this so the boiler will just come on at a timed section and go off at a non-timed section?

    Hi
The advance function will allow you to Advance to the next ON or OFF period.
I have scanned a copy of instructions for this programmer for you.
Hope this helps you !!,this forum has saved my bacon a few times nice to give back some help.

    Cheers

Yeah that's the instructions that came with it but it doesn't tell me how to set it so that the boiler switches off - just can't get the timed on/off function to work properly now.

Are you sure it is wired correctly? From memory I think you have to loop from the permanent feed to one of the terminals and then switched live out of the other terminal but will check later if need be....

I wouldn't know tbh, it was installed by our plumber while he put in a new boiler, and he definitely does know what he's doing so I'd be surprised if that was the case.

I'm having the exact same problem with the same device. No idea how it works. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
