Unfortunately the px625 has been banned worldwide for a while, mercury proving one toxic heavy metal too far for battery manufacture. Do a quick google though, you should be able to use a couple of different replacements. I've in the past used hearing aid batteries (zinc/air) in my 124G which needs a mercury cell, and some silver oxide cell in a spotmatic. Both of them have similar discharge profiles to the old mercury cells.

    cheers Daire!
I know that mein make a zinc replacement, and when I worked in the camera centre many moons ago we sold them,I can remember the battery just not the fecking opening hours! :o

I decided I'd shoot a bit of film for the first time in literally 3 or 4 years and look where it gets me!

If I can't find one I can use an alkaline but my metering will be way off, which means overexpose a bit and hope for the best! :pac:

Try and find a silver oxide that you can jimmy into the battery coompartment. the metering may or may not be off (mercry cells were 1.35 IIRC, SO cells are typically 1.55), depending oon whether or not the OM has compensating circuitry. I can use silver oxides in the spotmatic for example without compensation, but in my yashicamat I have to compensate using the iso dial. A quick search ought to put you straight on it, I'd guess there are sufficient people still using the OM that there's probably a good deal of information out there.

The other alternative is to use an external light-meter. There are a few Apps you can use on your phone which will work and you can even spot meter with them.

i use a normal battery in my OM1, and it does the trick. i don't shoot slide in it, which would be more sensitive to a bias in the metering, but then the OM1 doesn't have the world's most sophisticated metering system anyway...
