bit of a problem here.
I got an email from my lecturer blah blah blah...
in the email it said : I can consult with you next monday.
i received the email yesterday.

which monday did he mean?

Next Monday is the next Monday after the coming Monday.

If your lecturer doesn't understand this basic reference, and expects you on the coming Monday, he's wrong.

lol, I'm always having this argument with my gf. She'll say something about next weekend and I'll reply do you mean this weekend or the weekend after.

She'll always reply with the weekend coming, i.e. the next weekend.

To which I'll reply, well if the weekend coming is next weekend then when is this weekend?

They are the same thing.

But if today is Friday, then this weekend and next weekend are not the same thing, right?

Yes, but it depends on when you say it, saying next weekend early in the week would mean the weekend coming, whereas saying it later in the week would mean the weekend after.

eh so when is this magical cut off point where this weekend no longer equals next weekend?
