Few questions?

    Hi All,
First, I see Channel 5 are advertising that Big Brother is in HD. How can I get Channel 5 in HD? I have a Humax Foxsat HDR, (Freesat). (Please note: that this is not for me but my wife....who would want to watch it at all, never mind in HD)

Second. I have a dish with quad lnb, two feeding the Foxsat and two others to Technomates FTA and an aerial to receive Saorview from 3 Rock. I know I can join a sat and aerial lead and then split them to run both signals in 1 cable, but how much, if any, deterioration in signal is there?

Thirdly. I have seen the Digihome Saorview receiver in Power City for €59, how good is it? It seems to have all I want. Irish channels, Mheg5 and recordable using an external drive, any info appreciated.

Hope to connect aerial while BB is on and get rid of UPC so wife won't notice......;)

    Thanks

    TC

You can't get Channel 5 HD on Freesat. You can get it with a Sky box and a UK viewing card or "Freesat from Sky" card.

Regarding your second question, it should be negligible if you use good cable and connectors. I do this and this get the highest signal quality on both DTT and Sat.

Channel 5 HD is not on Freesat at the moment (it is on sky)
I dont think it is on freeview(digital terrestrial) yet and while they have committed to it they are scheduled to be the last of the UK terrestrial channels due to go on to HD on Freeview.

you can join and split your UHF(Saorview) with one of your lines and they split it for saorview/sat tv at your tv saorview and satbox(your sat box had 2 sat inputs for freesat+)

you may be better having a multiswitch as the joiner if you have multiple tv locations and are feeding 4 lines in from the quad your UHF aerial as well and then splitting them at your TVs

as for the saorview boxes some i have seen dont have the MHEG5 or EPG for saorview working. check rtenl.ie for sanctioned boxes

All Saorview approved receivers have MHEG-5 and epg as a minimum requirement.

Non Saorview approved DTT receivers may or may not have MHEG-5 but should have the basic DVB-SI epg.

As for the Digihome receiver it's listed as Saorview approved and so should do everything listed on the tin.
