Text message from NUIG

Hi, just wondering did anyone else receive a text message from a number claiming to be NUI Galway and advising people (postgrads) to go to www.nuigalway.ie/1styrnotes ??

I tried the link and it leads nowhere.

The number seemed genuine enough, because it had my PAC number on it.

yeap i got one yesterday. It said somewhere they would text you to let you know your login and how to work out your password. So i think that was what the link is to

I checked the website and it says that registration is from 23rd August. Maybe the link only becomes active on that date?

This flyer explains how to work out your password, maybe that was the link they were supposed to put up?

I reckon that its a dead link because registration hasn't opened yet like Raging_Ninja said its the 23rd it starts, so least now we are all prepared for Tuesday

Hang on...

So I just need to know some fresher's date of birth and their student number and I can choose their curriculum, upload their personal details and a photo, register them, and select their subjects?



edit: some of the links on the pdf are dead too...

Not being a p*ick, but does that mean the same thing as 'eventually' or 'after the million other things to be done, have been done'?

I've just logged on to try and register as a postgrad and the link doesn't work. Great.

I emailed them on Sunday morning mentioning the bad links and the seemingly dodgy passwords for first years. Got this reply yesterday
"Hi Ficheall,

Thank you for your email.

We will update the page immediately to correct the link.

Kind regards"

Neither of the links seem to have been fixed yet.

There's a message up now saying that they are having problems with the online registration system and try again at 12.

Click on 'online registration' and do it that way. Amazing how they can mess up such a simple thing.

Ya, it's working now, but none of the registration links were working until an hour ago.

Trying to register. but every time I click 'pay later', the damn thing takes me to an error page.

Bloody tried my patience registering, like you all had the dead link text msg and then online breakdowns etc finally managed to get registered but cannot access blackboard or seem to find any sort of schedule or timetable for the year which is kinda bugging me!! Seems that registration online keeps breaking down so that may have something to do with it.
Anywho best of luck to everyone for the upcoming year etc

Same as. I'm supposed to be starting a distance learning masters on Monday, using Blackboard etc and can't access it and have heard nothing from the college so far. Not very impressed.

Same as myself, got registered (I think :rolleyes:) and I can access my email but not blackboard.

Its frustrating for everyone, hopefully it'll be sorted sooner rather than later.

Woo thanks that link worked for me, unfortunately there is nothing up there yet for my courses lol
Oh well , while I'm at it does anyone know how, when or where we can get timetables? I'm doing a masters here and am new to NUIG but cannot seem to find out where I can get one or when I will receive one?

Guess I'll just have to be patient
