Wasps

There are too many. Just yesterday I had to pass by at least 2 wasp nests on my way home from work. The little bastards wake me up at 6am by trying to get into my house through the ventilation. And don't get me started about the swarms you get whenever some idiot drops an ice cream or a can of fanta in the street.

What are the admins going to do about it?

Some are wasps and some are bees
    aerialyellowjack.jpg< This is a wasp.

apismellifera2.jpg< this is a bee. More rounded body

Both sting. male worker bees only sting oncw, After losing their stinger in you they crswl away to die
but wasps just keep on giving and can kwep on stinging you.

Sarky, this is like an epidemic.

I suggust you make a solution of sugar and water, and cover yourself in said solution, from head to toe, to protect yourself from any attacks.

That would be um, er, ...interesting (runs for camera)

Most likely they were the micro-robotic surveillance wasps used in spy movies, and not actually the stinging variety.

The stinging variety, waspus stingus, is actually quite rare these days. Much more common is the waspus watchus that you observed.

A useful repellent for these is a hat type object which one make from aluminium foil.

I think the real issue here is how you pronounce "wasp"

Do you say "wosp" like a refined, monocle-ed gent, or "waaahsp" like a silage-chewing culchie?

My boyfriend turned into a bee once.

Lord! If I had a penny for every time that happened to me.....

So, what i'm hearing here is wasps are nothing more that singing machines who add absolutely no value to the world whatsoever and I can kill them without remorse?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44,501 ✭✭✭✭Deki

Well they do destroy some other insects and eat some parasitic thingies, so they probably do have a reason to live. But I've seen them chase a kid and when three of them stung him at once it hurt so bad it rolled him, so kill if you must.

    It was holy water.

    bumble bees are fairly hairy

and bumble bees don't chase you, then they bred killer bees- they not only hunt you down they gang up on you and sting you to death- bad mistake but they can't get rid of them,

It's America's fault for giving the bees funding and training 20 years ago in order to enforce a regime change by proxy. US foreign policy has only itself to blame for these buzz-lim extremists.

I thought they were created by accident when researchers released hardy African bees into the Amazon where they bred with regular honey bees creating crazy bandit bees ?
Are you claiming my government would lie to me? Is that what you're claiming Sarky? Well probably.
But what about this? Would SNL lie to me?

    I can hardly believe that.

"We interrupt this (radio) program to bring you this bulletin from the news room. Swarms of South American Killer Bees have been spotted crossing the border into California. Sightings have mostly been confined to rural areas....Eyewitnesses say that the bees are yellow and black and dress much the way Eli Wallach did in the movie, The Magnificent Seven (1960). The bees are also overweight...(radio clicks off)."
