Looking at buying a house and looking for advise on renewable energy systems that I could add to the house. Not sure if I fell be in it for 10 years(quite possible) ... so I was wondering what is a good investment no matter what

    Specifically looking at
    solar heating.
Underfloor heating (if possible with a second hand house ?)
    and
    geothermal heatpumps
Biomass system I'm not so sure on yet.

    Thanks for the advise.

Best Value for money is always properly insulating the attic and draft-proofing existing windows or replacing with double glazing if not already in place. After that probably solar hot water...

Ok get your insulation sorted 100%.... first step gotcha. So I need to get all over the ber assessment of the property I suppose. Thanks.

BER report should be available if the house is for sale. Insulation is a must as are good heating controls and making sure your attic tanks are lidded and well insulated. If there is going to be renovation consider fitting a stove or similar with a back boiler.

We got the "beads" done in the walls and the attic re-done, huge difference. We also added two solar panels which serve most of our hot water needs. House is 14 yrs old. We put a solid fuel stove in the living room (no rads heated etc)but it throws out some heat.
