I live on the West Coast and am installing aerial for saorview no reception around home at present obsured by hill. I am forcusing on the Maghera Mast as it is the only one available. Using 20 feet pole to support aerial and 200 feet of cable from TV to aerial. I can get picture but with alot of pixalation and break up. I am using triax beam 32 aerial and using RG6 low loss foam insulated 75 ohms impedence cable. Is there any thing I can add to improve stablity of picture eg amplifier or higher quality cable or is it a question of going higher than 20 feet? All help appreciated

I would suggest getting a local aerial installer, who would know the area, and have the correct amps, aerials with him, for the job.
He would also know the min signal level required for trouble fee viewing.

I know it might cost you a few bob, but it's worth it in the long run.

Since you've bought & installed everything else, you could try a masthead amplifier near the aerial to compensate for the long cable.

Get one with at least 16 dB gain or alternatively, as posted above, cut your losses & call a decent installer.

getting power to the amp could be a problem, 200ft is a long cable run

No problem at all, 200 metres would be more of a concern . . .

thanks very much for all your replies,I am fairly decent at those kind of instalations myself as i installed my 3 motorised sats systems 2large dishes and1small,but sometimes other peoples opinions help,as i found out since i joined this forum[we help each other]This afternoon i got myself a triax 25db masthead amp. put it on and now all stations are perfect thank you all again for your help:

200 ft. of half decent cable could attenuate signal by about 15 dB depending on frequency, so your amp. compensates for this & gives useful extra margin.

    Japp,

I would love to do this myself, but would not be up to the job, was it hard to get soar view tv pictures, or should I get an aerial man ?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have an existing aerial? If so, depending on your location and nearest Saorview transmitter it could simply be a matter of plug and play.

A simple indoor aerial can work in strong signal areas.

If an external aerial is required then an installer would be your best option.
