Mobile broadband or tethering.. PAYG options?

Are there any pay as you go options for mobile broadband out there, taking into consideration I don't have a laptop? I would use it for iPad and iPhone.

About a year ago I bought a PAYG Vodafone simcard which I used with my iPhone, and tethered my iPad to it (had to Jailbreak the iPhone to do this at the time).. however it ate up the phone credit rapidly. Now my iPhone has a factory setting for tethering.. does this work any differently?

This time round I was thinking of a mobile broadband router, but they seem to be monthly rental only from what I can tell?

I'm out of the country and just coming home for a week or so which if why I would prefer a PAYG option... also in county Waterford where the 3G coverage seems to be very spotty (with Vodafone at least).

    Thanks for any suggestions!

You are not allowed to tether though.

I think it's 15Gb in the small print

    How do they prevent you?

    Not sure if they can.

Can they find out? Their reps say they could cancel your service if they catch you.

    What's your thought?

Do you have printed evidence of this ? It's most un-three like.

Do I need? Can't they just go and cancel your service?

On their T&C it states that tethering is not allowed, that's as official as it goes. No mention on consequences, etc.

It was the tethering I was talking about. I can use my PAYG SIM for tethering, should I need to. It's bizarre that 3 should introduce such a restriction.

I agree...I wonder how far they will go enforcing this. Specially for cases that stay withing the 15gb fair usage limit.

Could you please post the relevant sections from these new T&Cs. If it is the case, anyone depending on it may as well spend 10€ extra on the rolling contract with all the advantages it brings.....

    http://three.ie/terms/3pay_terms.html

Scroll down to the €20 Top Up...heading, the fifth bullet point.

No rolling contract for me. I do not need it, but it was handy when I had to use my ipad out and about and there was no hotspot available. The add on 500mb was enough for the month for me.
