George had a heart attack on Tuesday and is in a serious but stable condition in Blackrock after bypass surgery.

Thoughts are with him and his family, his kid was in my primary school and every year he was good enough to come along and do running commentary for all sorts of stuff at each May fair, he even roped one of the Irish goalies to come down one year for a penalty shoot out competition, heh, I always thought to myself it was a really nice gesture on his part.

Hope he makes a full recovery. Like his style or not, he will always be the voice of some of the biggest sporting events of our lifetime. I think he's a consummate professional and excellent at what he does.

Jeeze just shocked to learn this.
I will always associate his voice with every great moment of our national team.

Hope he makes a speedy recovery and we get to listen to his commentary once again.
