train from Wicklow - there's 2 in the morning, and 3 back in the evening (though they don't all stop at Lansdowne Rd - you might have to DART to Bray and change).

From Greystones, there's a DART every half an hour and a big park & ride - the drive from Wicklow to Greystones takes about 20 mins.

by and large the service is fairly reliable, but its quite slow.

The earlier two trains (i.e. the ones that have you in the city for 9) stop at Lansdowne Road. You would have to get a DART to Bray in the evenings and change there though as none of the outbound services call at Landsdowne Rd.

Depending on where in Ballsbridge you're travelling to Sandymount might also be an option, but only DARTs stop there so you'd definitely have to change at Bray.

There's also the frequent 133 Bus Éireann service between Dublin and Wicklow, but it's not that convienient for those travelling to the Ballsbridge area.
