How to get medical card transferred between doctors?

I'm heading to college in a few weeks moving away from home. College has a free doctor but I'd like to have my medical card down there in case I get sick and need medication down there.

Can anyone tell me is it possible to have the med card registered with the college doctor and home gp? And if not is it easy or awkward to get it transferred to the college doc?

Or is it possible to hand normal prescription and med card to a pharmacy to get medicine free? I don't actually need the card in college for doctor as he is free for students anywY it's just I'll need it for any prescriptions...

    Thanks!

You can use your medical card for up to 3 months if you are living temporarily outside your Local Health Office area. In this case, you can attend any GP in the area participating in the medical card scheme. If you are going to be away longer than 3 months, you should apply to the Local Health Office of that area, for a medical card. If you move to a different part of your own Local Health Office area, you can apply to change your doctor.

Thanks for that! Do you know what the procedure is then if I go to the doctor in college and show my medical card? Can they just automatically give me the medical card prescription for medicine or do I have to pay for medicine and claim it back? Couldn't find the answer on that site.
