i would not recommend cheaping out on boots especially if you intend to use them for activities other than airsoft ;)

+1 to what Thermo said. Look after your feet and they will look after you. There are only two items of kit for airsoft you really shouldn't skimp on; eye protection and footwear

i sell hiking boots and one thing you should never do is spend to little on boots walking and hiking especially.
spend enough to have comfortable, quality boots and they will repay you.

I use a pair of Meindhl Eagles; gortex beasties and expensive yes, but commmmmmmmmFY, and worth every penny for it. Mind you, for an average Saturday/Sunday skirmish such boots are overkill. If you're off for a weekend (or longer) event, or you are planning to do so in the short to medium term future, I would seriously recommend you revisit your wish to not spend money on boots since it may well become a matter of short-term false-economy for misery down the line. Your feet will thank you for it afterwards.

Don't forget about water resistance, especially if you'll be playing in the Winter. The lower end Magnums don't seem to bet very water resistant

dont get me wrong id by a high end pair of i had the spare funds, but thats exactly the problem:P
