How can I burn .dmg images in Linux?

    Hi,
    I have run into a small problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have a copy of Mac OS x Snow Leopard saved on my pc which is running Kubuntu 11.04 KDE. The file size is 6.2 gb and I'm trying to burn it onto a DL DVD. I have tried Brasero Disk Burner but it will only burn the disk in .iso format which is of no use to me. I am trying to install OS x on a laptop using the Empire installer which requires the format to be in .dmg. I don't have access to a Mac so copying by that means is not an option. I have being on the internet all day looking for a solution but I cant find anything. If someone had a solution I would appreciate it.

    Almost forgot, I have also tried AcetoneISO but that also gave me similar results to Brasero in that it will only convert the file to .iso.

    Why can't you burn the DVD from the created .ISO?

    From what I read about the Empire installer it will only work with .dmg and not .iso.
    Also if I believe if I were to burn the .dmg file and convert it to an .iso, chances are it won't fit on an DL 8.5 gb DVD because of the extraction process.

    You could try the dd command, something like:

    dd if=/location/of/file.dmg of=/dev/cd0/file.dmg

    Obviously change the name of the device representing your DVD drive.

    Have you done research on installing OSX on PC? It's not trivial and often impossible.

    Anyway MagicISO will do it, I'm sure you must know someone running Windows!

    I have would have used iAtkOSv7 for installing OSX to my laptop if you don't have any luck with the dmg.

    I think the command above is incorrect ... I suggest it should be in the form ...

    dd if=/location/of/file.dmg of=/dev/cd0

    ... based on the .dmg file being an image that needs to be burned to disc.

    ... but of course I may be wrong too, as I have never used one of those .dmg files ;)
