Claiming from VHI

I've never had to claim before so I'm a bit clueless.

I have seen a specialist 3 times this year and want to claim back from VHI. I downloaded the day to day expenses claim form. Is there a particular stage of the year that they accept this or is it whenever I want? How long do they usually take to process it? Thanks

They pay benefits for eligible expenses listed in Sections 9 and 10 of your Table of Benefits, of your particular plan, which are subject to an excess as a lump sum at the end of each year. Consultant fees will come under section 9. However, if you have large expenses during the year, you may submit up to a maximum of one claim per quarter (based on your renewal date and subject to the relevant waiting period).

They will only pay the benefits when you send them the claim form which you have completed and signed, together with receipts. You must do this within three months of the end of the year- this rule is now being enforced by VHI.

Send in the form and receipts anyhow. Make sure you keep copies as they no longer return original receipts.

They will deduct an excess, policy dependent, from the allowable expenses.

I would call them first 1890 44 44 44 to see if you can send them in.

Thanks, but when you say the end of the year, do you mean the actual year so December time or when my policy is due for renewal?

You can send it in whenever you want. I was at the doctor a couple of weeks ago. Downloaded and filled in the claim form a couple of days later. They send you a text when they've received it and when they've processed it and put the money in your bank account. Think it's a five day turnaround. Last year I waited until the end of the year and sent in all the receipts from the doctor together and again it was processed within days.
