    Hi all,

Looking at the forum list, I'm not sure where to put this thread. This is possibly the wrong place. Can it be moved if there is a more appropriate forum?

Can somebody tell me if MIDOC (the out of hours doctors) is an emergency only service? I think it is but my gf says it's just a normal doctor service that operates outside normal office hours. I've got a relatively minor ailment that I'd like to have seen to, but can't really afford to take a day off work to visit a GP.

Do MIDOC allow you to visit them if you are a non-emergency issue?

    Thanks!

    N.

We have the same thing here, called DDOC, and it is an emergency only service. A nurse rings you and you describe your symptoms, and then they decide if you're urgent enough to be seen, urgent enough to go straight to hospital or not urgent, in which case they'll tell you to go to the GP.

OP, according to the HSE's website MIDOC GP Out of Hours Services "is a service to provide you and your family with access to family doctor services outside of normal hours. This service operates from Monday to Friday from 6pm-8am, Friday 6pm to Monday 8am and on public holidays".

There is no suggestion that it must be an emergency on the website.

Why dont you ring them and ask? :) Their number is 1850 302 702.
