Best Shot You Have ever hit?

Talking with a few people recently about the best shots we've ever hit and we all agreed for a shot to be great it has to be under pressure.
My friend was playing the lord mayors this year in the semi final and he had lost 16 and 17 so they were going down 18 all square. Understandably he was a bit rocked standing on 18. He said both of them knocked 2 good drives down the middle into a biggish wind. His opponent hit a 3 wood into the greenside bunker and so he felt he needed to make birdie for a half. He stepped up and "hit the perfect" 3 wood from about 210 metres into the middle of the green, 2 putted and won with birdie. He said it was the best shot he had ever hit as he was under a lot of pressure as he had been 3 up with 5 to play and his opponent had all the momentum even though he had hit shots with better results previously.
So what is the best shot you have ever hit?pressure or no pressure?

10th hole in Rathfarnham, 250m Par 4- If you go for the green , you have to carry water and green is only about 20ft deep.

Knocked my driver to about three foot and held the putt for eagle. No pressure apart from having a sh1te front nine!!

just because its recent it sticks out, won Lady Presidents Prize to men in club yesterday.... off 13

Par 4, index 6... back marker into fresh breeze.... landed 190 yrds from flag in semi... I'm trying to be more conservative and took out a wedge to take all trouble out of play..wedge wedge and I'd have a putt for par.. green is uphill and it was into breeze, bunkers either side and gorse on both sides if your not too far off line....so it was playing around 220 all way back to flag on green incl. wind... anyway I was going ok and said I'd go for it to the delight of my playing partners... I creamed the 3 wood and it soared onto middle of the green and ran to pin high... best strike of the day .. best ever I'm not sure but its right up there....

I got the birdie from 15ft and won comp by 2 shots!!

Last night playing a semi final of a matchplay, had to go back down the first, hit a bad drive, there was a big bank blocking out the green for my second shot, out comes the golf buddy 197 yards to the middle of the green, hit my rescue club and left the ball four and a half foot from the flag, the best part was the hole was given for the win:D

We had a corporate day out with a company I used to work for a few years ago in Druids Glen. They had the resident pro on the 12th with a beat-the-pro nearest the pin. Was playing sh1te all morning but stood up and knocked it inside him! Holed the birdie too...never forget it. Promptly scratched the wonderful 13th.!

Best I've ever hit... Holed out a 140 yard 9 iron on a par 4 for eagle or drove the 15th green par 4 in Dromoland to 6 foot and holed the putt for a 2. Best shot I've ever seen... Hole in one by a playing partner on 120 yard par 3 in Limerick golf club.

Siloge, a few Saturdays ago,355 meter 16th, drove it straight down the middle to the 100 meter marker. My straight drives as rare enough but add a bit of lenght and I'm one contented boy.

7th hole in Portmarnock Links, 2nd shot, 203 into a stiff breeze, 5 wood out of the 1st cut and straight in.

Last hole in my match. I play off 17 your man is off 4. It's level going down the last. I don't have a shot on it so we're level. I hit a poor drive short and in the right rough. He drives it way down there about 100 yards past me. I hit a 7 iron which just crept over the bunker and went 20 foot past the pin. His shot finished 20 foot past the pin as well. We both 2 putt for par and I win on the 1st playoff hole.

All because of that shot :D

5 iron from 190+ yards on the road hole, 6ft from a back left pin.
That, or the putt that followed... not much break normally but with wind it was a good 6 inches outside the cup and in she dropped for birdie (yet to par the hole but who cares!).

A par 5 you say? I was hoping it was a par 4 to make the lie a little more believable.

I have hit some good shots but never got even a eagle.

Maybe it was that 25 footer for birdie in Juvenile Competition way back(1996 I think) when it had 6-7 feet of break and straight into the cup..

I won by one shot, to win my first ever competition..God I was happy bunny for days after it, getting my little trophy, still have it

Most satisfying was probably a 4 iron, not entire sure of the distance, into roughly a 3 club wind on the 4th in The Island, to about 10ft. Was just such a sweet strike, ball did exactly what I'd tried to do. Missed the putt though.

2 shots that stick out from matches were on 18th greens. One time was all square on the last, were both in the same greenside sand bunker on front right of 18 with a fair number of people watching, my opponent holed out his shot and I was left with a near identical shot for the half, was very satisfying when it dropped.
Another occasion I was 1 down playing 18 against another scratch player in the inter-clubs in UK, was a good number watching the game. He put his second onto the green so birdie was a must, I hit the 6 iron to a few inches and won the 19th

Played a classic in Shannon couple of weeks back and on the par 3 10th 150+ yards 3 of us hit the green, two of us within 10 foot. One guy knocked his ball down off the tee and was left 120 to the green. He holed out with a pitching wedge for birdie and the other 3 of us made par par bogey. Crazy game at times

200 yards into the wind par 4 index 1 over a tree with a fade it finished 2 feet away put the birdie in and pared the 10th hole to win 10 and 9 in matchplay

The 18th (index 2) at Forrest Little on an open singles comp. 36 points scored and on the fairway 210 yds from the pin. Hit the sweetest 5 wood to 5 feet. Sank the putt for bird and 40 points... Felt like the 3 wood PH hit to eagle the 16th at the Open!

Only ever played about 2/3 of a round at Mayobridge a few years ago. Par 3 hole with the green and tee elevated to the same level, think about 190 yards. Got the 1 iron and hit off a tee, straightest shot I've ever hit, straight at the flag the whole way and fell about 5 feet short of the flag. Missed the putt. :pac:

6 iron punched into a 3 club wind from about 120 yards.
Started about 15 yards right of the pin then drew in to 2 feet, never got higher than 20 feet off the ground.

Not the best shot i've ever hit but the best i've hit recently...
18th on Killeen on Sunday in a comp, pulled tee-shot into the pond, dropped out and played my 3rd from 170yrds off an upslope with strong wind from the right, hit it to 6inches for a tap in par....didnt have a score going but theres always a crowd of people watching out the bar window....rest of the round was shocking though!!

I played Jimmy Bruen a few years ago and hit a 1 iron out of a divot on the 18th in Ennis, which effectively won the tie. It didn't go in the hole or even on the green, but it was a super shot and ran up close to the putting surface and it put huge pressure on the opposition, who promptly choked :D

I also had an albatross on the 18th in Lahinch quite recently. A good drive and a rescue from c. 200 yards. It landed on the front of the green and ran up and eventually just fell in. It's debatable was it the best shot I've ever hit, but it was a perfect strike, & flew well on the perfect line. After that it's just a bit of luck tbh.

Similar for me, 150 yard approach shot into the teeth of a gale to a green with a ridge in the middle which can be hard to hold at the best of times. I punched in a 5 iron to 12 feet, pin high.

I holed the putt for a bogey, bogey as I had played 3 off the tee. It was my 3rd round without making a double so it helped me to avoid a double bogey and keep the run going.

Could say my hole in 1 at the 13th in Slade Valley but this is better, playing a 'friendly' match in Portsalon last year ,3rd hole par 4 - guy im against hits a 6 iron straight into hole for a eagle 2 !!

we laugh - then i take out a 7 iron and 3 bounces straight into hole for a eagle 2 also - we halved the hole with eagles 2's - the other players with us laughed about it for days afterwards - im sure it will never happen to me again

Had a hole in one on the 11th in Mitchelstown in a friendly round last year..
Best shot I've hit is a 160m 4 hybrid into the index 1,4th green to 2 feet-caught it sweet and cut it out from behind a tree over the water hazard 20m short of the green. Sank it for birdie.
    And my eyes were open:pac:

Played the captains prize in Macroom a couple of weeks ago, on the 8th par 4 hit a great drive about 280-290 yards left a soft wedge to the green, totally fluffed my wedge hit ball with heel of club and shot it beyond the green. Went to look for my ball and it was in a dike, took 3 shots to get out, was about to pick up my ball and walk to next tee box but said feck it i have 1 shot left so hit a lob wedge from 50 odd yards, onto the green and rolled into the hole for my 1 point :D walked onto the 9th and drove my drive out of bounds aaaggghhhh the joys of playing golf!!!!!!!!!

On the second in Laytown & Bettystown GC was about 130 out and hit the flag. Had a 4 footer left for birdie and missed :pac:.

Hole in 1 at 16th in Royal Dublin. 282 yards into a decent breeze in the presidents prize.
