Hi all, another one of these so I'll keep it brief. We are looking for:
    • Budget about €500-600 for everything. We've done similar trips in Italy for the last 3 years so it is possible.
    • On Piste Accom. is definitely preferred. The group is about 10 so we could look into getting a chalet.
    • Beginner slopes or teaching facilities not important.
    • Good intermediate-advanced slopes.
    • Nightlife not such a big issue.

Will add more as I think of it.

Has anyone gone down the route of private hire of a chalet through somewhere like donedeal or similar?

    Thanks in advance. :)

You are right, it definitley can be done. Last time I did Italy, I went through www.ActivityBreaks.com and it was pretty cheap. They include ski passes and ski hire but they dont do flights, however they offer a lot of resorts around Milan Bergamo and you can always get cheap ryanair flights there from dublin...:)

Has anyone got inside information about when Ryanair intend releasing their ski routes and schedules for Winter 2011/2012? is it likely that the Dublin Turin route will return of might it be a victim of cutbacks??

I thought their ski flights were up already. Ive been checking for flights to Bergamo and they are available right through to February. Not sure about Turin then...

Bergamo flights are on all year round. Last year the Turin/Grenoble/Salzburg flights came on line at end of August. Just a tad worried about Turin as a destination for Ryaniar. Profits are teh bottom line and maybe that route did nt bring in enough money....

More replies to OP please, for my benefit!

Any industrious soul come accross a ski resort with decent amount of high pistes, i.e., 2500 - 3300 kind of range, that is also nearish an airport please post it.

Skied in Italy before (Cortina) and had very bad (no) snow (was late in a bad season). Also skied Livingo which was great but the transfer and red eye flight was heart breaking. Also, wasn't mad with the lack of proper piste marking, got the impression it was all a bit too laissez faire.

Hard to argue with delicious cheap Italian grub and cheep pitchers of beer though...

It's Ok! Ryanair launched flights to Turin on Fiday with none of the usual pomp and ceremony! booked as soon as they came on line and got a good price. Already the price has gone up by €0 per person. We're going to Montgenevre in France, just over border from Italy. wonderful resort with access to the whole Milky Way. only 1hour 20 mins transfer from Turin. Thanks
