Fox call on UCaller remote

    Guys,

Those of you that use a UCaller, how many have success using the default rabbit cry for calling in Foxes? Have had mine for a good while now with poor results so far. My method is to sit in a foxy location and then call for 30s and then off for a couple of minutes - repeat this for maybe 20mins or so.

Is it the noise from the caller or my method?

My method is to walk or drive around and shine the lamp around the ground, if I pick up a set of eyes I'll get into a suitable firing position and squeal them in.

Thanks, but do you squeel them with the UCaller? TBH who is getting good results from using the Remote UCaller with pre-loaded rabbit squeel on it?

Not me anyway, i pretty much do the same as deeksofdoom. Never had much luck calling a fox in with it, just getting their attention long enough to get a shot off

Never used a U'caller, I squeal them in with my lips, back of me hand, wam caller, & fox caller pro, anything that will make a squeaky noise and get their attention and is not too loud so as not to spook them.

I never use electronic callers. I use a load of different ones some home made or use your hand. There is no one caller that works. You should be able to tell straight away if you have their attention. Don't be afraid to change calls half way through if he is not responding. A lot depends on the times you go out and the area you are in aswell. If a fox has fed he won't show much interest anyway. I always try to be out about an hour before dark as well. Not saying the electronic callers don't work but I don't see why you would spend so much money on them when a kids toy works as well. I have over 90 shot this year so far but I believe it's more about learning the behaviour and habits of the fox your after. It's a little like pigeon shooting. Just because you go out and spend hundreds on pigeon decoy, magnets etc doesn't mean your a professional pigeon shooter overnight. Try a different call and obviously keep an eye on wind direction. Best of luck

if you are only going after foxes don't waste your money on a ucaller, they are fine for crows , grey crows and magpie but the cheap options are best, reckon moby got 30 of them foxes with a kids toy, wont get much cheaper than that, i have my ucaller 7 months and have only ever called 1 fox on it and that was while i was out shooting grey crows and it ran in on a crow call.

i have one and found that the only call that works any way at all is the HARE in distress call and only on cubs at this time of year ,
usually set it up out off a cover with a homemade lure made out of a ferret ball with feathers stuck to it ,leave it to call continuosly and set up 100 or so yards away ,fox hears call, see's lure makes a bee line for it and bang ,,result :D:D,,

don't know if the pic shows up on this. Spotted this lad about 150 yrds away last night. It wasn't a safe shot so tried calling him in. Tried one and seen he wasn't interested so gave it a min and tried a second all the time leaving the light on as I could see it wasn't bothering him.still not interested. Then used the hand to squeak and I could see his eyes light up and in he comes and I got him about 20 yrds. Not totally against the electronic callers either. As above I've seen them work really well on birds.

Well went out last night and left the UCaller behind. I made a squeeler like this one

I used that and the lip squeel and went about my business..... I came across a freshly cleared field and saw a pair of eyes. I was calling for a while and got his interest however he never came close enough for me to take a shot. His beady eyes just protruding over the top of a brow. I could not get his attention enough for him to expose more of himself. The good thing was though that my squeeling had him interested but didn't frighten him off. After ages I lost sight of him and went on my way... Walking along a path I spotted a pair of eyes in the distance maybe 200yds away, he was trotting in a straight line right for me. I got the rifle up on the tripod and lit him up about 100yds away. I made a noise which stopped him for enough to get off the Hornady V-Max into his throat.... Happy hunting.

great work sincere. nothin more satisfying than makin your own calls bring them out and gettin your fox. i made one similar to that using lollypop sticks. another one i use a lot is the little squeaker from a kids toy. just cut it out and tape a bit of lanyard or something to put around your neck. no harm to have a few different ones when you go out. its great the way you were lookin at his behaviour and did all the right things so not to spook him-more important than any caller really.
    well done
