    Hi there

I'm after wrecking my laptop keyboard more or less rendering my laptop useless, and I need one for college. I'm thinking of getting a netbook as cost effective replacement. Looking at this one on Argos.

I also found this one on Amazon. The amazon one works out at 80 euro cheaper than the argos one, they only difference I can see in the specs is the 250GB hard drive(its 320Gb on argos), I was just wondering does anyone know if all the Acer Aspire One 722's have HD screens and a HDMI port? it says the one on argos does but it doesn't say anything about ports on the amazon one.

Also, if I could avoid having to shell out for a netbook I would, the main problem with the keyboard being wrecked on my laptop is I can't type in my password to get into the desktop, been trying all day to bypass the password but no joy, if i get USB keyboard for it, will it need to be installed or will it just work if I plug it in before I boot up? If it's the latter then I should be able to get away with that I think.

Since the accident(water spill on keyboard) the laptop has been doing a lot of beeping too, never a good sign I think :(

Your laptop might jsut need a new keyboard, beeping -if you're lucky- might be caused by a short in keyboard circuitry. Easy enough to take out keyboard and maybe you can try a usb keyboard instead to see if motherboard etc still working

USB keyboard will work with no problem, there's no need to install drivers manually. Also I would advice you to get the keyboard fixed (or replaced) as this is not a big deal and might be worth doing

hi Mickeroo, please dont buy an acer laptop. they are useless and will cause you many problems. yeah you can just plug in a keyboard before u boot up
but then you have to carry a keyboard around:D. if you are looking for a cheap laptop i recommend http://www.littlewoodsireland.ie/compaq-156-inch-amd-v-series-v160-laptop-cq52-250ea/970296704.prd?browseToken=%2fb%2f4873%2fs%2fbestsellers%2c0

its cheap and they give you tick at only 20e a month:)

Thanks lads, I was under the impression once a laptop keyboard is wrecked there's no replacing it, I'll look into getting a replacement. Thanks again!
