Checked my bank statement online about an hour ago and noticed it seemed a little short. A quick look at my recent transactions, and whaddaya know, some f***ing pr**k has helped himself to $300 from my Paypal account!

I reported the transaction, changed my password, and logically ought to get the money back, but there is always the worry I somehow won't.

Who has had a similar experience? Particularly one with a happy ending (not that kind, AH) to make me less angry...

Same thing happened to me. I didn't have much money in my bank account to take from Paypal so I was ok. Someone tried to buy from my Amazon account and send stuff to the U.S. and Canada.

Obviously I was a bit worried, but I changed all my passwords, virus scans and such. I now always remember when I buy something to delete my card details and only re-enter them when using them again.

I can't remember how but I managed to track down the guy who actually took my account information and found a forum where he sells peoples Paypal and other account information. I'm surprised he hasn't been caught yet.

dont worry about it, get on to the fraud department and give them all
the details, your covered with paypal, or else a chargeback to your
    credit card company.
you will get your money back.

Bad times OP, get onto them as soon as possible. The only time I use paypal is when I add a 3v

The charge was in USD but I'm not sure it came from there, the "seller's" name was Malaysian or something similar to that.

Someone hacked my paypal account, got someone (i assume an ebay auction) to pay him €800 into my account and he then added a bank account (his own) to get the money transferred to.
I only noticed this a couple of months afterwards, i hadn't loss any money, so sent an email to paypal to report the activity, i stated that it wasn't my auction, my transaction, my money or my bank account number.
Paypal then paid the €800 back into my account, of course i said nothing. 3 months later the money was still there so i started spending it:D

About a year later i got an email from paypal demanding the money back, i told them to feck off and set up a new paypal account under the missus name.:pac:

In a way you're indirectly complicit with the original hacker. His actions were reprehensible for starters, and adding to the fact you knew the origins of the refunded 800 makes you quite dishonest at the expense of their mistake. Oh well, says you..

A aunt of mine was caught with an internet scam. They called saying
her computer was attacked with a virus. (CLICK4FIX) charged her 180euro, they took remote control of her pc, and wrecked he software,
cost her 150euro to get it fixed.
She put in a chargeback to her credit card company and got back her 320euro. She had to wait 5 weeks for a refund from the company.

just heard a friend of mine got his wages today went down to the atm, tried to take out money none in it, went to the bank and he found out someone took the money and lost it through his betting a/c. Bank blamed the betting site, betting site blamed the bank, he gets nothing. SOUND

Maybe if he can prove where he was at the supposed time the money was taken out, etc, he might be able to show it was not him and further advance his claim for a refund from someone.

Two of my websites were hacked in the last year. In both cases, they tried to steal funds from my bank accounts and via Paypal.
Because the banks knew me, they rang me up immediately to confirm the supposed transactions - which I made clear had nothing to do with me and they put a complete block on them.
A paypal account I had and hacked, was also refunded to me in a matter of days when it was made clear that I had not authorised anything to be taken or transferred from my accounts.

Sucks to hear that OP, You shouldn't have any issues getting your money back, My friends dad's credit card bill came in with a bunch of charges to some game site, Topped over £3,000 which is around €3,500. Called the bank and told them, Problem was sorted.

I use a moneybookers card, Which means any time I use Paypal or anything or site for that matter, I have to manually add the money to my moneybookers card!

I add money to it with my laser card, Which does onto it instantly and it's free. This is great as 3v cards cost €5 a go and that add's up overtime. Also means extra security, Because the money has to come from my laser before it anyone else can use it.

You need to enter your laser card's cvv code anytime you want to add money.

You can also add money with other credit cards, To keep your actually credit cards away from sites/Paypal, But there is a charge on that.

How did they take it out and than lose it on his betting account, sounds
    a bit odd.
