Laptop screen completely black -- Help please!

    Hi please help me!

My laptop screen is completely unlit, but laptop works on an external monitor (using it right now on the telly :p), so initially I thought I pressed fn+f5, my monitor switch hotkey thingy. After toggling a couple of times sometimes it will light, but never for more than about 3 seconds. Any suggestions? Some kind of loose connection or can the backlight begin to die for good like this?

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 8930g, 2 years old, running fine until now with windows 7. Could I need to reinstall graphics drivers or something? It happened all of a sudden mid-use :(

Well after 3 restarts, me opening up the baby to have a look and not seeing anything in particular wrong, it stays on again now for some reason only the Acer gods would know.

I hate it when unexplained/random things like that happen to my machines. After much googling, possible answers include: Damaged Inverter, loose connection to screen (which I can't find anyways), or something becoming corrupted in the bios for some reason, and apparently its nothing to do with the graphics card. Damn I hope it doesn't happen again!

Maybe this will help someone one day too, but mods you can probably close this thread....Thanks!

Similar happened to me with a toshiba, took it apart, back together again and was fine after. Some loose connection it seemed, though all seemed snug.
    Well done
