Hi lads you probley sick of hearing problems about this issue but i need help before this muppet of a so called plumber floods my house,

1st he turned a rad from one side of a wall to the other that looked ok,
The next morning the system needed to be refilled so i did this, when i came home from work i had to refill it again and have had to do same for the last 3 days. For the first 2 days we were able to get hot water now, the pipes are all heating from the gas boiler up too the water tank but the tank does not seem to be heating at all now it seems there is no hot water getting to the coil so that the water can heat up. we have two settings on a seprate thermostate in our living room for heating you turn it up to 20 or to just heat the water you turn it down to nil, The rad's are heating no problem when we turn it up to 20 but for water only it seems were just wasting gas as nothing is happing, Also the gas boiler is making a gurgling noise when it first turned on can someone please help and give me some sort of info as to what's going on as this guy does not no whats happing here,!!!!!

You need to know why the system needs topping up so much, I am assuming the system is pressurised. It sounds like air in the system, is there a air vent at the cylinder. If in doubt get a plumber who is gas qualified as well because they will probably need to work on the boiler.

The system is a condenstent system and was only fitted about 3 and half years ago. there is a thing on the top of it like a valve you would see on a bike or a car even the only other vent I can see is the outlet vent, the outlet pipe that is near the ground seems to be letting out small drips of water, This lad has phoned me this morning to say he thinks the termo valve in the hot press has stopped and this is the problem as the hot water is getting up too this but not getting past it, he says he broke open the valve on the other side of it and it then lets the water true but when he connects it back up it gets cold again after a min or two, Do you still think its air in the system or is he right in saying it's the termo valve.

If there is a valve there then yes it will need changing or repair. A simple test is to set it open manually and feel if the heating is going to the cylinder. The gurgling noise is stll most likely air in the system, its best to fill a system when its cold and make sure that any control valves are manually open when you do so.

Thanks for your swift reply's on this issue,
The valve is a round valve numbered 1 to 7 i think and has a wire probe coming from it that attaches to the cylinder and does not have the option of manually doing what you say, there is on other pipework that does but as far as I know thats just for the heating because when you turn the termo in the living room up a red light comes on on this one, It turns out that i can by the same one for 60 euro from chadwicks in walkstown,

Sounds like a tap stat, not really suitable for a modern heating system. Is it similar to this

If it's the one DoneDL has shown, you can screw off the head of it. You will see a pin, gently pull it to open.

Replace it with a motorised valve and cylinder stat.

No lads it turns out it was'nt that valve at all replaced it and it was still the same, turns out it was aq gate valve that was traped replaced that and everything is back to normal except for pressure keeps going down checked everywere for a leak and cant find anything do you have any idea what this could be
thanks for your help

WORT1, how much pressure is it loosing, there are several things it could be. Are there any minor weeps on valves when the system is cold and have the expansion vessel checked. You could drain the system and cap the boiler pipes and pressure test which will show if it is definitely leaking.

DoneDL, it's dropping down too 0 and it's only when there is no one home and it's not being used and the system is cold that this happen I have checked everywere for leaks and cant seeem tofind anything, When you say the expansion vessel what or were is this

The expansion vessel is in the boiler and as you need to remove the casing it should be done by an RGII, there is a pressure relief valve on the boiler that should exit outside. These can become faulty and leak, have you noticed any staining or water outside. Have a look near where the flue is there will be a 1/2 pipe lower down, check if the pipe is wet.

yeah there is water out side on the ground just small little drips is this straight forward or is it a big job I had the caseing off it the other day its a ferroli boiler heap of s*@t as im told anyways.

Its a small job, the boiler needs draining then take off the old one and replace. I am not familiar with ferroli but it should be a generic swap. I would suggest getting an RGII to do it and ask them to look over the boiler for you.
