    Hello dentistry folk!

I would like my teeth to be whiter/brighter. They used to be lovely and white and I guess the years of diet coke and coffee has taken it's toll.

What is the best treatment route to take? (at best price!)

    Thank you in advance
    Amdub

The most reliable way to bleach teeth is KoR deep bleaching but it is far from the cheapest. The cheapest way is at home low concentration bleaching but the results are variable.

    Thanks fitz

I'd like to get it done professionally at first and then maintain at home I guess?

    What is KoR???

    Hey OP,

I had KOR done recently so I can tell you it works, you should check it out online and see the before & after type pics, the reviews I found were mostly American people as I don't think many have it here in Ireland so you won't really find reviews of Irish clinics that provide it, well I didn't anyway.

    Good luck:D

Acid and sand, you wont have much enamel left after a few runs with that....this is not good advice.

at this juncture maybe its best to point out the difference between cleaning your teeth and whitening.

Cleaning removes the surface stain and reveals the tooth's natural colour. Toothpastes, and brushes, do this and well as a good scale and polish. I tell patients its like cleaning your car. It shows its true colour.

Whitening requires you bleach the teeth. This is like respraying a car to change the colour. You change the natural colour from the inside out.

Recommendation for cleaning products are really not whitening the teeth, only cleaning them ( which is a good start). If you used bicarbonate and your teeth were whiter thats because they were dirty as bicarbonate does not penetrate the tooth and change its colour. If your teeth look dark because of tobacco, tea, coffee, wine stains then a good cleaning does wonders. If you teeth are naturally yellow then bleaching is needed to whiten them.

To be honest I had to google them as I had not heard of them before. However if they did all they claim I think we would all have heard of them before now.

they are probably "new" in Europe and north america, but they are common in Africa middle east and all Muslims countries, they are used for Oral hygiene and religious issues .
there are many researches about it on Pubmed (US National Library of Medicine)

there are thousands of herbal plants that we don't know about either because they are used in some specific areas in the world or they are kept as a secret for big medicine companies, or we just don't know about them yet.

oh sorry iam not supposed to talk more about this twig :o

Is there any draw backs to whitening?
Iv heard some people say it damages your teeth and enamel.
No real idea about it, just considering having it done.
    Thanks.

    What about the home solutions?

What are people experiences with the over counter ones?

The ones sold over the counter here are peroxide free, bright smile in boots etc.
but you can order peroxide containing ones from the US on the sly.

    For example crest strips

Am i correct in thinking, seeing as the dentist supplys you with peroxide containing solutions (both for the rapid whitening and the take home whitening) This means that peroxide containing solutions are the best?

    Am I correct in this

And any experiences with these products
