Body hair, right or wrong?

I've just been reading a thread on another forum where a 5 year old kid is being bullied about having hairy legs, and her 'mom' is wondering whether to let her start shaving or not. My initial reaction is FFS hair grows where it grows - but then yanno, there's this whole waxing thing going on - male and female - so what, pray tell is wrong with a bit of fuzz in places where it grows naturally? Is the entire planet anti-body-hair, or what? Brazilians (not the nationality, the...erm... style?) seem de rigeur nowadays - what's with all this anti-hair prejudice?

    Well?

Me too ! I happened to play a sick little trick with mine last Saturday night, was sitting at a table with 2 buddies havin a few drinkies, one was oogling the young lassies so when he looked away i pull a nice bunch of black hair from my chest area and lace his drink with them. He continues to oogle the lassies and without looking at his pint necks it, 10 seconds later he starts to pull little strands out between his teeth......sick moment for him !

So yes body hair can entertain and is a very good idea :D

No. Fairly common. All women grow hair on their arms and legs, it's just generally fairer and softer than mens.

    FFS

Bullied about hairy legs at five? What next.

The mother needs a slap, and a dose of cop on. If she starts shaving she will look like a gorilla by the time shes twenty!

If bullying is an issue at school or otherwise then she needs to address the bullies as they will pick on her even more if she's shaving at five.

    Crazy times.

Am repulsed by body hair anywhere on me. Letting it grow back enough to wax again is unbelievably stressful

Contrary to popular belief, shaving does not cause hair to grow back darker or thicker.

This myth has come about because when you shave hair, you are only cutting it down to the root, where the hair is thickest. When the hair starts to grow again, this thick part of the hair pops up out of the skin and becomes stubble, and makes it appear as though the hair is growing back darker and thicker. Within a week or two, this thick end will taper off to a point like hair normally does and will be no darker or thicker than it was before shaving.

Waxing doesn't have this problem because the entire hair is pulled from the root, so when it grows again, it begins with the fine taper rather than the thick root.

I was asking about 5 year old girls growing hair obvious enough to want/need to shave

Yeah, still fairly common. Children do generally grow a very fine layer of arm and leg hair, girls and boys. It's really only those kids with jet black hair who it tends to be noticeable on though. I've had dark hair on my arms and legs for as long as I can remember, well back into early primary school.

The real concern here would be that if a mother is encouraging a five year old to preen and beautify herself, she'll end up with all sorts of problems by the time she hits teenager years.
