    Looks similar to examples/problems in Mechanics of Materials by Gere & Timoshenko. Not sure what edition.

    We did that kind of thing last year in Mechanics, I can't remember the book exaclty, but I think it was by W. Bolton?

    Looks a bit lilke hibbler strength of materials, but could really be in any undergrad strengths book.

    Thats an Ed Mullarkey Question if i ever seen one... pretty straight forward one though, its covered in Gere and in Hibbler, I can give you solution to the problems in the relevant chapters if you want them.

    It could be a problem from the book but the numerical values have probably been changed anyway, i'm to lazy too look through the book, if you tell me what ques it is i'll get you the solution.
