Saorview & Freeview on one TV

    Hi

I'm living near the border, so i'm going to set up a system to pick up Irish DTT from truskmore & UK DTT from brougher mountain. I'm planning a new TV in this overhaul & my questions are:

    1. Will a TV with DVB-T2 tuner (with MPEG4 decoder) pick up both right now?
I know that Irish DTT uses DVB-T & that UK will move to DVB-T2 & I want to ensure that what I set up will work both now & in the future.

    2. Assuming I can tune both on the same TV, are there TVs that can simultaneously tune both? My fear is that the EPG settings will be for UK or Ireland, but not for both together?? I've never tuned a DTT EPG before, so maybe this is a stupid question.....

    Thanks

    1. Yes. Some of the Saorview approved TVs also have a DVB-T2 tuner e.g. here any Sony model no. ending in 23 and 24 has a DVB-T2 tuner I believe.

    2. It's been posted here previously that channels and programme data from both Saorview and Freeview are displayed in the one epg.

    Yes.

Yes, and yes, you are quite correct about the EPG. If you specify the UK, you'll get Freeview on positions 1,2,3,4 etc with Saorview in the 800's and vice versa.

The only exception will be those within range of the new mini RTE mux which will appear on the UK Freeview EPG in NI (though I've no idea where), though even this might be in the 800's if you've got reception from two transmitters (i.e. one carrying the RTE mux, and one not).

Yeah, the nephew down in Gorey has one of those Sony's.He was able to change the rte's on it from the 800's to one two three and four and then the welsh five six and so on.
    So you'll have no bother
