Civil Service Mobility Scheme

I am on a fixed term contract with the public service which is not to be renewed.

I am writing concerning the civil service mobility scheme. Please note that advertisements will be made in some departments offering civil servants of C.O and E.O level the opportunity to transfer to other departments in the civil and public sector.

I wish to plead with those who are thinking of availing of this offer not to do so. The reason that these offers are being made is in order to fill the void being left by the refusal to renew fixed term contracts due to the moratorium on recruitment in the civil and public service. Civil servants who choose to transfer to the public sector will only receive the same entitlements as other workers in the department they transfer to which in all probability will be less generous than waht they are receiving right now, e.g flexi time, term time, annual leave etc. It should be noted public sector workers cannot seek to transfer to the civil service under this scheme.

Finally, I wish to leave the most important point until last and that is that ordinary hard working decent people are going to be sent to the dole queue because of this mobility scheme.

Please do not assist the Department of Finance into doing this by availing of this scheme.

    Thank you for reading.
