ok so ive got a HTPC (more a retired gaming PC thats quite overkill) but its ok cause in the future it'll be used to run gaming servers.

anyway, ive a SKY satellite i no longer use (but would be very hard to adjust as its on a very high roof with no easy access)
and im wondering what channels id be able to pick up and decode?
but to add to it, ive also got a UPC cable coming into my house that i only use the BB (100mbps package + phone) and i believe its legal:confused: to decode the analogue channels coming from that?

what would be the card to do both of these? is it possible to pick up "Soarview" with a small antenna behind the TV? maybe this would be a better solution than the UPC? i cant put up any aerials because of the management company. i live in Castletroy Limerick so not sure what signal would be like?

ive got a PCIexpress and a PCI slot free on the motherboard in a full ATX size case so shouldnt have any problems there. also have a CM 600W silent pro PSU so i wouldnt be lacking in power.

whats the best thing for me to do?

Dunno if an indoor aerial will pickup digital TV in your area but that only gives you 4 additional channels.

If you have a with a PCI slot keep an eye on e-bay for a hauppauge nova S2 sat card or similar (prob no point in a ducl card if you only have a single feed, if you have two for sky+ then a dual card woudl be better) which will get you all the BBC, ITV Channel 4 and a load more FTA channels from the sky dish

So any sat card is ok? And this would get me FTA channels without having to adjust my satellite in any way?

Any S2 sat card. Without the S2 version you wont get the likes of channel4 hd. a non s2 will get you the free to air standard definition channels from a standard sky dish.

Have a similiar question myself, Iv a single dvbs card hooked to a dish and get BBC ITv e4 etc, but Iv 3 lined coming down to the back of the pc. I want to bit another dual card to work along side the present single. If I get one that's dvbs dvbs2 and dvbt will it pick up saorview aswell as the hd stations does anyone know?

you will need a dvb-t (terrestrial) card for saorview and an appropriate aerial. saorview doesnt require a dvb-t2 card but one is more future proof.

Lovely job! Saorview can be received off the present Ariel that gets rte etc can't it?

    Spent some time on this.
Finally settling on Happauge HVR 4400
DVB-S2 hi def sat (for Freesat HD channels)
    Also has DVB-T for Saorview.
Waiting on delivery from dabs.ie, best delivered price I could find at 123e.

I needed PCIe connection, and also extra S-Video input for camcorder.

So is it worth cashing out for a Happauge dual dvb-s2 over a TBS card? The happauge is pretty much twice the price

Which TBS card, is it dual, ie DVB-T and S2 ?

I wanted HVR4400 as it was proven Win7, WMC compatible, HiDef Satellite for Freesat HD channels.
I wanted my WMC EPG fully integrating DVB-T and DVB-S2.
I wanted S-Video inputs, to record to HDD from old camcorder etc. (My case has inputs front and back.)
