A senseational headline, doubt he really falls from favour or was sacked. My take is he had a bad year from injury and Deans replaced him as captain to give him time to concentrate on his own game

He's form is slowly improving and having the extra burden of captaincy removed will be good from him. He's a terrible captain anyway, too hot headed and not exactly what you'd call diplomatic with the refs. Deans used the captaincy as bait to get Elsom back to Australia, it didn't work out but at least he's a good enough coach to admit it.

strange headline, my take on it was that he was frankly too consistently injured to be a captain.

Ìt's probably bad news for Ireland. If he can regain the form he showed while at Leinster then, well we all know what he can do. It could be a great world cup for him now, hopefully he's injury free .

He's hugely fallen out of favour in the Aussie media, they've been calling for him to be dropped for a while now

Horwill is the right man for the job regardless. He's the type of player that anyone would follow into battle. He leads by example and is absolutely reckless with his own body. He's a born leader but it is peculiar to change captain 3 weeks ahead of the WC. Can you imagine the meltdown if BOD was stripped of the captaincy tomorrow to focus on his own game?

Strange though, last week against SA was one of his best performances in ages. I dont disagree with the decision - hes a crap captain, just the timing seems odd.

Can anyone remember the match about a year ago where he had a running argument with the ref? His team got penalised a load of times and 50-50s went against them simply cuz Rocky was doing everything he could to antagonise the lad.
