Landlord -ridiculous word...

I cant stand the word "landlord". It souds like every owner of even the smallest crappy house is the "lord of the land"..

Also -their attitute is almost always annoying. Its tennants who pay the money -not other way! We are "receiving" some service, it's like in hotel -you pay -you demand clean room and all the rest. Why they think they're doing tennants the favour and its the tennants who are expected to submit to the rules, but tennants right are not so important.

Once I moved to some house which was only chosen because of location and I didnt have time to be fussy. It was filthy and squalid. I brought it back to the decent condition. This house was rented by some property agent. Once they called they'are coming for "inspection".. I was surpised, but I said ok. This nosy lady came..and she dared to open the oven (which was spotless clean -after I cleaned it and was dirty when I moved in) and she commented on some crumbles which were there after I baked pizza in it the day before... :pac: It was hard to stay calm - seriously.

Back to topic - what you think about calling house owners "landlords" and wouldnt it be more normal just to call them "owners" ???

Also -are relations between owners and tennants like they should be? I know every tennant and every owner is different? But dont you think its the tennant who are customers here in a way?

A common mistake leaving crumbles around the place.

You really should have known better than to leave shameful crumblings around the place.

Well in my industry we refer to the people who use our service as 'Clients'.

Ridiculous, as I've hardly ever given any of them a blowjob.

If you think the place is below standard when you move in, why not take photos? Also saves on arguments when getting a security deposit back if something is broken when you move in.

    Pizza crumble mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :pac:

Doughnut - just the spelling mind you. why not donut. and why colour and not color. and why through and not thru. so many unnecessary letters.

Same way I can't stand 'inkwell', it's not really a well, just a pot. If you put some crack in it would you call it a crackwell? :D Landlord's just a word we all know and agree on the meaning.

It is surely, and one I haven't heard in a long time Fago!.

Anyway, back to the main issue, it's just a word. Try not to get upset over it.

An inspection should only be about building maintenance issues really.

As long as you're not trashing the place, doing unauthorised construction work etc, crumbs or how tidy the place is are irrelevant and she should make no comments

I think certain landlords are a tad patronising. She's not your mom!

I do agree, the term is antiquated and a bit of an anachronism.

In many cases "amateur property speculator" would be an accurate description :-)
