you should be fine. I buy a lot of stuff in the states and send it to my in-laws in California and I have had no issues. Just remember that the power adapter will be north american so you'll need to get a travel adapter here (tesco have them).

No real issues bringing them in although I've always unboxed stuff before i come home so i can avoid any queries from customs.

I don't know how good or bad it is as regards price though.

Im thinking of buying the motorola zoom! Have a friend in Canada coming home soon so if i bought one online from here http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/motorola-motorola-xoom-with-wi-fi-tablet-xoom-wifi/10166934.aspx?path=5e3547e1985bbf0 for 500 dollars and send it to his house would it everything workout?? exchange rates are quiet good!!!

Any advise , words of wisdom appreciated, thanks!

Whats the cheapest in Ireland does anyone know??

The US and non US Xooms are on radically different update schedules. I think CA Xooms are still on 3.0. You would probably be better off getting a US Xoom if that isn't too much hassle.

Well 3.0 is the standard at moment in Ireland afaik?? Is that not more to do with android it self??An update to 3.2 will come in due course or will I have the latest up to date version if I buy from the states??>

I think most of Europe has 3.1 now. Check out the 200,000+ view tread about the UK getting 3.1

    https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/50837?tstart=0

There are other threads about other countries such as Canada on that forum also.

For the Xoom US will get that latest a long time before anyone else it seems.
That may not matter too much depending on your priorities. Some people do not care about what version they have, some people (like me) care irrationally too much. I do not have a Xoom myself so I can not give you perfect advice but I just wanted to inform what little I can. I think you can root a Canadian Xoom and install the US version assuming you are getting wifi only but that is not for everyone.

I've one from the states. It updated to 3.1 as soon as it was available. The 3.1 update in the UK (I presume Ireland too) was different to the states one in that it activated the SD card. The states one is on 3.2 now.
Updates drop in by themselves. You've practically nothing to do.

I remember reading somewhere in Boards where a guy posted instructions on how to change your version from a states version to a European version. I can't remember where its posted (somewhere on the Android forum anyway) so you could go that route if you wanted. It's not that simple but it's possible.

i have a us wifi xoom,
    bought in florida
was on 3.01 when i got it and immediately updated to 3.1 when i powered it on.
back home it works just fine.
Have unlocked it and rooted to install the 3.2 update.

afaik they are €549 in pcworld

prices are good in usa with exchange rates but dont forget to factor in any sales tax for the state u buy it in. this will push up the price
