Garou isn't a Beat 'em Up, it's a Vs Fighter. Games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage are Beat 'em Ups.

I refer to those games as belt scrolling beat'em ups. Street fighter and it's ilk were beat'em ups back in the 80's and 90's and that's what I grew up calling them since the magazines referred to them that way. Anyway arguing about genre definitions is a bit silly

Kind of, it takes more of the direction of a Third Person Shooter than anything else though. The previous one was more RPG-ish. Action RPG is what it's cried as.
